History
India's co-operative movement has a 114-year history. The First
co-operative institution was established in the year 1905 by Sri. Siddanagowda
Ramanagouda Patil,the father of co-operative movement, in
Kanaginahala village,Dist. Gadag, Karnataka, and set the
Co-operative movement in motion in the country.
"Udaya Souharda Co-operative Society" was established in the year 1996 at
Hanumanthanagar, Bangalore. The main objective for establishment of
a co-operative is to serve and economic upliftment of its
members with various need based schemes. Our co-operative was started functioning
under the leadership of Sri B. S. Gundu Rao, ably supported by Sri N. Chandrashekhar,
Sri Tejmal under the guidance of Sri M V Srinivasaiah and late
M V Suryanarayana.
The Udaya Co-operative which made a humble beginning with 500 members with a share capital of Rs.5.00 lakhs, now having more than 4500 members with a share capital of Rs.3.00 crores. It is having a working capital Rs.110.00 crores and marching ahead to become a largest co-operative in the country.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
We have our own 4-story modern building with state of art facilities.
To provide good health care facilities to our members at affordable rates, we have established a modern Diagnostic Center in our building with medical equipment's of latest technology. It is also proposed to extend this facility to the general public at reasonable rates.
The co-operative is providing financial help to its members during medical emergencies from " Arogya Nidhi fund" which is specifically created for this purpose.
We had adopted the Karnataka State Government's prestigious health scheme "Yashaswini" to its eligible members.

2018 - Construction of 4-story modern Building
The Co-operative has constructed its own building at a total cost of Rs. 10.00 crores with the best state of art facilities.

2017 - Udaya Co-operative selected for International Research Study
In the year 2017 Our Co-operative was selected for Research and Study in Co-operative sector from Indian perspective by International Co-operative Alliance for Asia and Pacific region under Indo-Canadian joint venture.

2013 - Best Co-operative
Our Co-operative has been adjudged as one of the best Co-operatives in Karnataka for the year 2013.

2009 - Helped flood victims in the northern Karnataka
Keeping in mind social obligation and responsibility, Our Management and staff lend a helping hand to flood victims of the northern Karnataka in the year 2009 which was appreciated by one and all.

1996 - The rise of " Udaya Souharda "
Our co-operative established in the year 1996 in a small rented room with mere 500 members with a share capital of Rs.5.00 lakhs by a group of enthusiastic like minded people.
